Lawmakers are “biting their nose to spite their face if they choose to support never-ending fees on businesses and high-growth industries” such as transportation network companies, said Brett Broesder, vice president of Campaign for Tomorrow’s Jobs, a non-profit that advocates for business growth.

Broesder noted that Connecticut’s proposed fee would be the nation’s highest and, unlike the surcharge assessed in Massachusetts, does contain a sunset provision. “Let’s hope that state lawmakers find longer-term solutions for fixing the state’s budget mess that don’t drive the rideshare industry out of Connecticut,’’ he said.
